Easy Almond Butter in Your Blender

  by  , Monday 1 January 2018, Categories: Health-Fitness

Why buy nut butter from the store when you can make a bigger, much tastier, much nutritious and much cheaper jar at home in your blender. Store bought nut butter is very expensive and has more additives in it than actual nuts. Once you try our simple recipe and start making your own nut butter at home, you will find it so convenient to make and so much richer in taste that you will never think about buying one at the store again. Without further ado, let’s jump straight to the recipe:

Easy Almond Butter:

It is very easy to make and much tastier than what you would find at the store. You can make in large quantities and store it in an airtight jar in the refrigerator to be used for as long as 2 to 3 months.

Ingredients:

  1.    Almonds, roasted and unsalted, 2 cups
  2.    Salt, 1 tsp
  3.    Sweetener, if desired

Method:

  1.    Spread the almonds on a baking dish lined with a baking sheet and roast them in the oven till they turn brown. Make sure that you do not burn the almonds.
  2.    While the almonds are still hot, transfer them to a powerful blender and blend them on ‘low’ setting till they turn creamy. First the nut will grind into a fine powder and after a while, the powder will start clustering up when the nut oils are released. You will have to wait for sometime before the nuts turn into a smooth, creamy paste.
  3.    This process might take several minutes. Turn the blender off at intervals to avoid overworking the motor. Scrape down the sides when you turn off the blender. Turn it back on after a couple of seconds.
  4.    Add salt and blender further for a few seconds until the salt emulsifies completely with the butter.
  5.    You can also add sweeteners like honey, sugar or maple syrup if you prefer the taste.

         6.    Transfer the almond butter to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.
